Privacy Policy

CorpusKit Reader is designed to be private by default. The app collects no personal data, has no user accounts, includes no analytics or tracking, and makes no network requests to run its features. Everything you read, search, and ask stays on your device.

The short version

• We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any of your data.
• What you read, search for, and ask never leaves your device.
• There is no account to create and no sign-in.
• There are no analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking SDKs in the app.

What the app handles, and where it stays

CorpusKit Reader opens .corpus bundles and lets you search them and ask questions. All of this happens on your device (iPhone, iPad, or Mac):

• Corpora you open (.corpus files from the built-in samples, from Files or iCloud Drive, or made with CorpusKit Studio) are read locally.
• Your questions and searches are processed on-device. The app converts your query into a numeric vector using a bundled machine-learning model and matches it against the corpus locally. Your queries are not sent anywhere.
• Grounded answers. On devices that support Apple Intelligence, the app can write a short answer using Apple's on-device language model, grounded only in passages from the corpus you have open. This runs on your device; your corpus text and questions are not sent to us or to any external server for this.
• Saved passages and settings are stored locally on your device.

We never receive any of this. It is not uploaded, backed up to us, or transmitted off your device by the app.

Network use

The app itself makes no network connections to run its features — opening corpora, searching, reading, and generating answers all work fully offline.

The only outward-facing elements are optional links — for example, “Browse Catalog” (to a website where you can download free corpora with your own tools) and a “Help getting started” link. Tapping one opens the page in your web browser. At that point you are on a website, subject to your browser's and that website's own terms and privacy practices. The app does not send any of your data along with such a link, and it does not download corpora for you — you choose and open files yourself.

Purchases

CorpusKit Reader is a paid app. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not process or receive your payment details. Apple's handling of purchases is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Diagnostics

The app contains no analytics or crash-reporting of its own. If you have opted in to sharing diagnostics with developers in your device's system settings, Apple may provide us with aggregated, anonymized crash and usage statistics through App Store Connect. This is controlled by you in your device's Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements and is governed by Apple's privacy terms, not ours.

Your control over your data

• Remove an imported corpus at any time from within the app.
• Delete saved passages at any time.
• Removing the app removes its data.

Third-party components

The app includes open-source components (for example, ZIPFoundation for reading bundles) and a bundled embedding model. These run locally on your device and do not transmit your data. They are credited in the app's Licenses screen.

Children's privacy

CorpusKit Reader is rated 4+ and collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Because the app collects no data, any changes are expected to be clarifications rather than changes to what we collect (which is nothing).
